02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- An open-sided platform raised above tidal water supports sleeping, cooking, storage, and craft without fixed rooms, connecting directly to canoe movement.
- materials
- Palm posts, moriche thatch and fibre, timber boards, woven reed, clay, cotton, and rope create a light structure suited to the delta.
- furniture
- Hammocks, woven mats, baskets, a low hearth tray, storage bundles, and portable work surfaces define household zones while preserving air and movement.
- lighting
- Diffuse wetland light and water reflections enter from every side beneath a broad palm roof, keeping the platform shaded through heat and rain.
- decoration
- Moriche weaving, basket patterns, hammock cloth, useful vessels, and the cadence of palm posts create a restrained interior landscape.
