02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- Open living zones extend toward planted courts and verandas, using operable walls and long shaded thresholds to keep air moving through the plan.
- materials
- Terrazzo, teak, cane, textured concrete, breeze block, lime plaster, woven fibre, and weather-resistant local hardwoods balance mass and permeability.
- furniture
- Low timber frames, woven lounge chairs, built-in benches, and circular occasional tables preserve airflow and a relaxed horizontal profile.
- lighting
- Broad overhangs, timber louvers, filtered courtyard light, ceiling fans, and a few shaded lamps moderate glare without closing the room.
- decoration
- Tropical planting, handwoven baskets, ceramic bowls, and small oxide-red accents connect the restrained interior to its climate and landscape.
