02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- A narrow entrance bends into a compact room where hearth, sleeping platforms, calf space, storage, and work occupy precisely understood positions.
- materials
- Bent branches, woven sticks, earth, dung plaster, hide, gourd, leather, and grass create a light armature protected by a renewable earthen skin.
- furniture
- Hide sleeping platforms, gourds, low stools, baskets, cooking vessels, and hanging storage use the dark perimeter while keeping the hearth accessible.
- lighting
- A tiny smoke opening and narrow doorway admit minimal daylight, allowing the central fire to define warm surfaces within the low protective room.
- decoration
- Beadwork accents, polished gourds, hide texture, and the hand-shaped earthen envelope provide concentrated detail without compromising practical order.
