02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- A rectangular reception room places a raised textile-covered platform along the principal wall, with carved columns, perimeter storage niches, and an open centre prepared for gathering and ceremony.
- materials
- Carved and painted elm, earth plaster, cotton and silk embroidery, handwoven ikat, wool, felt, glazed ceramic, hammered brass, and low-pile rugs build colour through accumulated craft.
- furniture
- Low platforms, quilted mattresses, floor cushions, carved chests, compact tray tables, and wall niches keep the room adaptable while framing embroidered cloth as the visual anchor.
- lighting
- Courtyard doors, high openings, coloured painted coffers, small brass lamps, and reflected light across pale plaster reveal dense pattern without erasing the depth of timber carving.
- decoration
- Large suzani panels, ikat stripes, painted floral ceilings, ceramic bowls, carved doors, and repeated pomegranate or sun motifs coordinate saturated red, indigo, saffron, and green.
