02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- The narrow raised interior follows a north, central, and south division for sleeping, gathering, cooking, storage, and ceremonial obligations within a longitudinal plan.
- materials
- Hardwood posts and boards, bamboo roofing, palm fibre, natural pigment, woven cotton, and rattan join a durable frame to renewable enclosure and surface craft.
- furniture
- Low platforms, mats, storage chests, baskets, stools, and portable domestic objects preserve the compact floor while reinforcing the room’s directional zones.
- lighting
- Small openings send mountain daylight across dark timber and saturated carving, while the great bamboo roof creates a protective, shadowed interior volume.
- decoration
- Red, black, yellow, and white carved panels repeat ancestral geometric motifs across structural surfaces, joined by selected woven cloth and domestic objects.
