02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- The pech stove anchors one corner while fixed benches, table, sleeping ledge, work area, and red corner establish a clear hierarchy within one room.
- materials
- Notched pine logs, clay and brick masonry, limewash, plank flooring, linen, wool, birch bark, and iron create a durable cold-climate interior.
- furniture
- Built-in benches, a heavy table, stools, storage chests, shelves, and the stove sleeping ledge use every perimeter surface and preserve a central work zone.
- lighting
- A small frost-bright window and firelight from the stove create strong warm and cool contrasts across pale masonry and honey-coloured logs.
- decoration
- The icon shelf, embroidered linen, painted cupboard, carved utensils, and orderly household vessels concentrate colour at meaningful points of use.
