02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- A broad central kitchen and work room connect family chambers to farm service areas, upper storage, and the exterior court within a deep compact section.
- materials
- Local stone, limewash, chestnut beams and boards, terracotta, wool, linen, iron, and copper give the working farmhouse enduring warmth and weight.
- furniture
- A long communal table, ladder-back chairs, wall benches, cupboards, storage chests, and hearth equipment support meals, work, and multigenerational gathering.
- lighting
- Deep windows and the farm doorway temper mountain daylight, while the broad hearth and hanging lamps warm the heavy timber ceiling after dusk.
- decoration
- Red woven cloth, copper cookware, carved chests, ceramics, and the contrast of white limewash with dark beams enrich a fundamentally practical room.
