How the room is composed
- layout
- Sequential courtyards, raised platforms, arched wall bays, and screened upper galleries separate public welcome, family gathering, and private rooms while sustaining shade and air movement.
- materials
- Carved sandstone, lime plaster, marble, dark timber, brass, mirror inlay, indigo and madder cotton, wool, clay, and mineral pigment combine architectural craft with portable domestic colour.
- furniture
- Carved daybeds, low chowki tables, floor cushions, compact stools, storage chests, and built-in ledges support conversation and rest around the protected room edge.
- lighting
- Jali screens, court reflection, deep arches, pierced lanterns, brass lamps, and small shaded sources cast patterned fields of daylight and focused pools after dusk.
- decoration
- Faded floral fresco, block-printed cloth, carved niches, metal vessels, painted boxes, and repeated indigo, madder, ochre, and stone tones build expressive depth through workmanship.
