02 Field note

How the room is composed

layout
A circular single room places sleeping, storage, cooking, and work against the perimeter beneath a narrowing dome, connected to adjacent compound cells.
materials
Hand-shaped earth, clay plaster, plant fibre, timber, woven mats, calabash, leather, and ceramic create a monolithic repairable enclosure.
furniture
Low sleeping platforms, stools, baskets, jars, mats, and cooking vessels keep the small floor open and use the curving wall efficiently.
lighting
A low doorway and tiny high vent admit controlled desert daylight, while the tall interior creates a strong gradient from bright floor to cool crown.
decoration
Modelled earth ribs, incised pattern, woven mats, gourds, and shaped storage ledges enrich the shell without separate ornamental layers.
