02 Field note

How the room is composed

layout
A clear central bay aligns the writing table, display shelves, and a framed garden threshold, while side seats and open floor space preserve measured movement and attentive solitude.
materials
Dark huanghuali-like hardwood, pale plaster, stone, bamboo, silk, paper, ink, bronze, porcelain, and unglazed ceramic create contrast through grain, patina, and controlled reflection.
furniture
A recessed-leg writing table, spare side chairs, narrow book stands, low incense tables, and open display shelves use precise joinery and visually light structural members.
lighting
Lattice windows, deep eaves, reflected courtyard light, translucent paper, and one shaded desk lamp produce calm gradients that keep wood joints and collected objects legible.
decoration
A hanging scroll, scholar’s rocks, brush pots, bound books, a bronze vessel, and one seasonal branch are isolated so that their material and symbolic relationships remain distinct.
