02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- A heated threshing room and compact living chamber connect directly to an unheated threshing floor and storage barn within one elongated building.
- materials
- Pine logs, rough floorboards, fieldstone, lime, clay, flax linen, and iron give the combined dwelling and barn its austere agrarian character.
- furniture
- Built-in sleeping benches, a plain table, stools, storage chests, and open shelves cluster near the masonry stove and keep work routes clear.
- lighting
- Small openings admit low northern daylight across soot-darkened logs, while the monumental stove and simple lamps gather warmth near occupied surfaces.
- decoration
- Unbleached linen, simple vessels, timber grain, drying tools, and the stove mass create visual order through use rather than display.
