02 Field note
How the room is composed
- layout
- A principal family room gathers hearth, sleeping, storage, and work, while stacked construction and roof paths connect houses across the steep village.
- materials
- Stone, heavy timber, earth plaster, carved wood, wool, woven cotton, leather, and metal form a robust seismic mountain enclosure.
- furniture
- Low platforms, carved chests, stools, shelves, baskets, hearth vessels, and textile storage keep the dark room organized around daily work.
- lighting
- A small valley-facing opening and roof gaps admit sharp mountain light, illuminating carving and saturated woven bands against dark timber.
- decoration
- Geometric wood carving, bright woven and embroidered cloth, beadwork, baskets, and domestic vessels add concentrated colour without staged exoticism.
